23                The former director of the BULL company, Pierre Letort, described in the magazine "Arts et Manufactures", No. 22, dated June 1953, the operation of the GAMMA 3:<br>
     24
25                <blockquote>"In its current configuration, the computer acts as an extension unit for the
26punched card machine it is connected to. The cards are read in the reader
27station which transmits data to the computer.<br> The computer in turn performs all
28necessary calculations and transmits the results back to the punched card
29machine which will print or punch these values. Regardless of the task, the
30computer is so fast that there is no visible delay caused by the calculations".</blockquote>

114                        <p>New in December 2013: Huge and incredibly heavy - an IBM card doubler from the
1151950s. This grand machine's purpose was just to copy punched cards or to
116'double' them. Due to the stress of handling, punched cards had to be copied
     117regularly.
118<br>Of course, there are some additional functions implemented, although
119there is no function to print plaintext on the card, which would have been a
120nice feature, but this is where the IBM 548 translator comes into play.
121A more detailed description will follow soon.</p>
